Therapy and evaluation
Therapy is not an evaluation
Therapy here is a place to work on what is in your way, with or without a diagnosis. An evaluation is a separate assessment, done by a psychologist, that can say whether you are autistic or have ADHD.
Therapy at Tarn
Ongoing sessions on what matters to you. No diagnosis is needed, and self-identified clients are welcome.
An evaluation, elsewhere
A one-time assessment that ends in a written report. We do not diagnose, but we can talk through what to look for.

Our services
Therapy for how you think and work
Methods such as ACT and CBT, adapted so they work for autistic and ADHD minds.

Individual therapy
One-on-one sessions for autistic and ADHD adults, at the pace you set. We agree an agenda at the start of each session and adapt the methods to how you process.

Teen therapy
Sessions for teens, with a parent or guardian involved at the start. Your clinician explains how privacy and consent work before the first session.

Burnout and overload
Practical work on what drains you: sensory load, masking and too many demands at once. We build routines and limits that you choose, and review them as life changes.

Couples and family
For couples and families where one or more people are autistic or have ADHD. We work on how you talk, plan and share the load, with each person’s way of communicating respected.

Work, school and identity
Support with a late diagnosis, a new job or a move to college. We work on what comes next, whatever your path.

Our approach
How we work
Three habits that shape every session.

Plain and direct
We say what we mean and ask for the same. You always know what a session is for and what happens next.

Your pace
Pauses, breaks and a different plan next week are all fine. You set the speed and we adjust.

Your body in the room
Fidget, pace, rock or look away. We do not ask you to sit still or make eye contact.
How it works

Common questions
Frequently asked questions
Clear answers before you write.
01Do I need a diagnosis to start?
No. Some clients have a diagnosis, some are waiting for an evaluation and some are exploring on their own. All are welcome. We do not diagnose; if you want an evaluation, we can talk about what to look for.
02What happens in the first session?
You and your clinician talk about what you want from therapy and how you would like sessions to run. There is no test. Your fee is confirmed in writing before you start.
03How often and how long are sessions?
A session is usually 50 minutes. Most clients meet weekly or every other week. You and your clinician set the pace and can change it.
04Do you take insurance?
We bill some health plans directly; details are on the fees page. Write to us and we will check your benefits before your first visit.
05Can I keep my camera off?
Yes. On video you can keep your camera off, or we can talk by phone. Video and phone visits are for clients who are in Washington, where our clinicians are licensed.
06What if my clinician is not the right fit?
Fit matters. If after a few sessions it does not feel right, tell us. We will help you move to another clinician on our team or find someone else.
Ready for a first session?
Write to us and we will reply with open times and your fee in writing.
